A Golden Glades sign attached to a tower near the entrance of the area’s Park & Ride fell on the road.
7Skyforce hovered above the scene near the intersection of Northwest 160th Street and Seventh Avenue in Northwest Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies and other law enforcement agencies responded to the downed sign and blocked the nearby streets as crews moved in to clear the damage.
7News cameras captured support poles snapped and connecting cables broken, bringing the massive sign down. Debris and dangling cables were left scattered across the road.
By late Monday afternoon, crews removed the debris piece by piece and cleared the entrance.
Officials said no injuries were reported.
An investigation is underway into what caused the sign to come crashing down. Authorities are also looking at whether the strong winds played a role.
