One person was stabbed early Monday while riding a 5-Fulton Owl bus in the Western Addition, and the victim is expected to survive.
The stabbing occurred around 1:10 am on a Muni bus near the intersection of McAllister and Laguna streets. As the Chronicle reports, SFPD officers responded by 1:13 am, and found a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Officers rendered aid, and the victim was transported to the hospital with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. A fire department and private ambulance crew also responded to the scene, and police tell the Chronicle that they waited until police had secured the scene to transport the victim, around 1:26 am.
No arrest has been made, and the suspect reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call the SFPD tip line at 415-575-4444, or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with “SFPD.” Tipsters can remain anonymous.
Erica Kato, a spokesperson for the SFMTA, said in a statement, "We’re grateful that the victim’s injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening and wish them a full recovery."
A stabbing occurred on a 14-Mission bus one month ago, in the SoMa neighborhood, and that victim also had non-life-threatening injuries.
The SFMTA says that assaults on Muni buses and trains are down by over 70% since 2019, as the Chronicle reiterates.
